Savings Tip of the Day

Here is my savings tip of the day. If you read the message from earlier today you'll see that I had to buy an oil filter, which coincides with this blog.

My tip to save money is to change your own oil. It generally costs around $30 to take it somewhere like Jiffy Lube, if not more. To do it yourself you'll need oil, oil filter, and if you don't already have one you'll need an oil pan.

So let's do a price comparison:

Oil filter (Saturn Vue) - $6.44
(Can get as low as $3.77)
Oil - $15
(catch it on sale)
Oil pan - $5 on up
Total - $21.44 + the cost of the oil pan

So if you notice its not a huge savings, but a savings nonetheless. Also, you don't have to worry about waiting in line, or someone getting oil in your car, or having to take out a manual to figure out how to change your car's oil (yes, that has happened to me). Hope this savings tip can benefit you!
