Savings Tip of the Day

Okay, so it's been awhile since I gave my "Savings Tip of the Day".  This time we're talking about haircuts, because I need to go get one. :)

Hair care specialists recommend that you get your hair cut once every 6-8 weeks to get rid of the split ends and keep your hair looking healthy.  I try to go every 7 weeks, although that doesn't always work out.  But from a money stand point going every 8 weeks is cheaper in the long run.

So let's just say that a haircut costs $20, yes I know that's on the cheaper side.  There are 52 weeks in a year.  So here is the break down of yearly costs based on when you go get your haircut:

every 6 weeks = 8.67 haircuts/year...9 haircuts/year = $180/year

every 7 weeks = 7.4 haircuts/year...8 haircuts/year = $160/year

every 8 weeks = 6.5 haircuts/year...7 haircuts/year = $140/year

Yes, I know I rounded up on the haircuts/year, but this was just for demonstration purposes.  The fact of the matter is, you can save $40/year on haircuts (if you were to spend $20/haircut) if you get your hair cut every 8 weeks, instead of every 6 weeks!
